Abstract
Few historians have worked on Jean Chevrot, bishop of Tournai. Initially studied in the 1950s and 1960s, the latter benefited from renewed interest in 2004. The problem studies the life course of a native Burgundian in the 15th century in France and the Netherlands. Burgundians and looks at the different career paths, his artistic commissions and his various networks of power. The thesis uses three types of sources: chronicles, accounting sources and diplomatic sources. The thesis will focus on the career of an ecclesiastic, his appointment as president of the ducal council, his numerous diplomatic missions, the management of the diocese during his episcopate, the course of the last years of his life, the foundations and the orders for works of art, the Polinois network of power of which he is a member and a biographical description of the men who surrounded him.
