Abstract
The enigmatic silence on the motive of Paul’s journey to Rome remains the bone of contention in the debate about the end of Acts. Different approaches have been followed by many exegetes in proffering a solution to this enigmatic phenomenon. These approaches stretch from historical to literary solutions, but unfortunately many of these solutions failed to understand the text within its literary environment. The narrative approach which we have taken in this work is an attempt to understand Acts within its literary environment. Beyond the historical concerns of the historical critics, the end of Acts goes deeper to touch on the question of identity and continuity with the past, as well as setting a paradigm for future mission.
