Abstract
In warehousing, the receiving process is one of the core process. Its influence over the other core processes of the warehouse is critical. The organization One Global Standard (GS1) developed two tools aiming at easing this process and assuring its accuracy: the GS1 Logistic Label and the Dispatch Advice (DESADV). In this thesis, their influence over Colruyt receiving departments’ efficiency is assessed with a Two-Stage Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Firstly, the theoretical concepts mobilized by those tools and the methodology employed are reviewed. Secondly, the context of the use of those tools is deeply described. Afterwards the model used and all its attributes are defined and discussed. From this model’s results, conclusions are drawn about the efficiency of the Colruyt’s receiving department and about the inference of this efficiency from the use of the GS1 Logistic Label and the DESADV. The last results are mostly qualitative and would deserve further analysis. Finally, the present analysis lead to the conclusion that the use of the GS1 Logistic Label and of the DESADV cannot explain by itself the efficiency of the Colruyt’s receiving departments.
