- Abstract
- The present MA dissertation examines the potential use of literary works in EFL classes in the FWB. Its main research question is formulated as follows: “Do FWB high school English teachers use literary works as teaching materials during their EFL classes?”. As we can see, different elements composed the research question, and one of the objectives of the dissertation is to present and analyze these different elements. To do so, the study is divided into two main parts; a theoretical one, in which concepts such as EFL classes, the reading skill, curricular documents and literary works in general and in EFL classes are investigated. Then, a practical one, in which two surveys intended for pupils and teachers from the FWB are examined, in order to provide an insight into some academic uses and beliefs regarding literary works in EFL classes. In addition to the surveys, a series of concrete tasks containing literary works as teaching materials is suggested.
