Abstract
Nowadays, digital technologies are expanding exponentially in all areas. In the educational context, and especially since the Covid-19 crisis, technology is becoming more and more present. It is therefore interesting to see what impact it has on motivation. Based on data collected from 17 students during a teacher training, this dissertation aims primarily to find out to what extent these new technologies can be a source of motivation while collaboratively and cooperatively writing in English. The results of this research mainly show that even if the students want to work with these new technologies, the fact remains that technology is not a new teaching method but a tool to be put at the service of an existing pedagogy. Nevertheless, positive effects when technology is well integrated into this pedagogy have been demonstrated in this dissertation. When properly integrated, technology can increase students ‘interest in group work as well as reduce the costs of group work. These two factors play an essential role in students' motivation, and by influencing them, it has been noticed that students' motivation can increase. However, this research also confirms that technology is not enough for motivating students since many factors are unfortunately beyond the control of the teacher.
