Abstract
This paper is aimed to identify the impact of the colonial railroad build by the Russian Empire in 1905 that connects the southest point of the empire (Orenburg) with Central Asia (Tashkent). The main focus is devoted to the development of human capital and trade that were facilitated by the infrastructural developments. The significance of both human capital and infrastructure has been emphasized in many papers and is known to be the drivers of the development of any economy. The novelty of this paper lies in the unique mechanisms and the distributional aspects of infrastructure development.
