- Abstract
- Worldwide production of plastic has been going up, reaching an all-time high in the past few decades. This increase in production bears consequences on the international stage. In fact, due to its persistence in the environment, plastic pollution is regarded as a major growing concern by scientists and political actors. Securitisation as a way of addressing the phenomenon of marine plastic pollution consists in implementing subsequent measures. This dissertation focuses on EU measures and policies to address marine plastic pollution as well as China’s decision to ban solid plastic imports.
